A new little Health Tip to keep us all focused during the holiday season. Try to pick the super foods that will benefit you rather than make you swear you'll never eat so much again. Here are the top 5 new and improved Super Foods:
1. Walnuts: one of the best plant sources for protein, rich in fiber, vitamin B, and E. Heart healthy, and luckily, usually in holiday party nut mixes!
2. Flax Seed: a vegetarian alternative to omega 3 fatty acid, flax seed has been shown to offer heart-healthy benefits. Research has suggested lignan, an antioxidant found in flax seed helps fight off disease, breast cancer in particular. Sprinkle it over the turkey or chinese food if you're like my family on Christmas!
3. Pomegranate: Pomegranate martinis anyone? Full of beneficial antioxidants, pomegranate juice is suggested to reduce cholesterol.

4. Salmon: perfect to substitute meat, and full of protein and omega 3 fatty acids. The American Heart Association suggests two servings of fish a week, particularly salmon! Best to stick to wild salmon. Best to be wild in general.
5. Dark Greens: broccoli, asparagus, bok choy, chard. All high in protein, full of vitamin A, C, iron and calcium, not to mention truly filling.
